Music is in our DNA, so you know Fête de la Musique will be BIG at The Hood! Come sway with us to the tunes of this special Folk-Off Friday session with a cold beer in one hand and a banh mi in the other. There'll probably also be lots of music to enjoy in rue Jean-Pierre Timbaud. We're excited!

Slim & The Beast was formed in 2016 and has been playing @thehood since its inception.
Slim & The Beast is an American folk-rock band based in Paris. The band’s shared love for travel, sense of brotherhood, and the spirit of 60’s and 70’s rock create harmony-rich melodies inspired by CSNY and The Beatles, combined with a healthy dose of modern production reflecting today’s indie folk-rock scene. In late 2018, Slim & The Beast began working with a host of established French producers to polish off their sound. Look for the trio’s second EP this summer, culminating in a debut album full of vintage folk-rock fused with a modern edge.

Ellen Quinn Banville and Finola Cahill first met on a rainy Dublin evening in a friend's apartment on Upper Pembroke street. Years later they rekindled their friendship in Paris, France and went on to start Pembroke in early 2015. Since 2017 they are joined on stage by their friend and collaborator, Elie Richa, hailing from Lebanon.
Their sound reflects their differing and diverse influences, from blues to pop to soul to lyrical folk. Two words: CHICKEN RICE! Yes, the iconic Singapore dish is back for the 6th time by popular demand and prepared authentically! (Alongside a beef rendang Nasi Lemak). Vegetarian version is available.
Ranked 13th on CNN World Best 50 Food and praised by the BCC: "Born out of frugality, Hainanese chicken rice – one of Singapore’s national dishes – may seem simple. But it’s the kind of dish you’d cross continents to eat".
For three days only, we're celebrating Singapore cuisine with this national treasure of a dish. The pop-up menu will also feature Nasi Lemak with beef rendang. Food available from 10am until stocks run out - and going by previous pop-ups, that could be as fast as a couple of hours, so come down early so you don't miss out!

** Hainanese Chicken Rice (riced cooked with Pandan and Chicken Beroth), house-made ginger paste and the Hood's signature Sriracha.

ABOUT THE CHEF
Felyn Tan is a 3rd-generation Hainanese Singaporean who's lived in Paris for over a decade - her grandfather (first generation) used to run a Kopitiam in Singapore. Felyn is an enthusiastic foodie with a passion for cooking and experimenting with mixed food cultures.

Join us for an invigorating session to learn all about the taste and aroma of brewed coffee. Leading the workshop are two experts in the field, the co-owners of coffee shop/brewing workshop Hexagone Café (they'll be bringing us a selection of their coffee!) and authors of a handy guide to making great coffee: Chung-Leng Tran is a French-Vietnamese photographer-turned-barista and winner of France Brewers Cup 2012, and Sébastien Racineux is the founder of the barista academy Espressologie®, won the Tournoi Coutume in 2012 and placed 2nd at the France Brewers Cup in 2012 and 2014. In other words, they know their stuff!
