What is Chope Chope?

Chope Chope is a series of collaborative food pop-ups hosted at The Hood Paris with chefs from Singapore from April to November 2023. Chope Chope aims to share Singapore’s food heritage, flavours and its hawker food culture, and give Paris a taste of the rich and the melting pot of influences that define Singapore cuisine.

We welcomed in 2023, The Kongsee x Willin Low, Cheffe Vasunthara, Nonyabong, and KF Seetoh & Ah Yau (Makansutra, Urban hawker New York), and excited to bring the program forward into 2024 !

"Chope" a Singaporean slang for reserving a seat with a tissue packet, reflects Singaporeans fervour in seeking out the best food and dishes. In French, the word "chope" is a colloquial term, derived from the verb "choper," which means to catch, grab, or snatch something. It is often used informally, like grabbing a bite to eat or catching someone's attention. It is also a casual term for a drinking vessel, typically used for beer. Chope Chope is an invitation by Singaporeans in Paris to experience the dynamism and the melting pot of influences that defines Singapore food culture.
