10/10 International

Chicken Rice Day

Chicken rice travelled the world. Now it has a day of its own.

On 10 October, we’re inviting everyone who loves or serves chicken rice to celebrate it together. This isn’t about deciding who makes it best. Everyone has a favourite. It’s about giving this humble global dish - and the people and journeys behind it - the love it deserves. Thank you to The Straits Times and The Peak Singapore for helping us share the story.

Where it began

International Chicken Rice Day was initiated in Paris in 2026 by The Hood Paris, Yong the Urbanist and BLK65, with launch support from the Singapore Tourism Board.

The idea grew from No Seat, No Problem: The Story Behind Singapore’s Hainanese Chicken Rice, Yong’s independent heritage programme exploring how migration, ingenuity and community helped shape one of Singapore’s most beloved dishes.

The Hood has served chicken rice in Paris since opening in 2016. Ten years later, we want its Hainanese story to travel as far as the dish has.

The sound of 10/10

Singaporean pianist and Steinway Artist Wang Congyu has created an original musical theme for International Chicken Rice Day.

Inspired by migration, movement and the journeys people carry with them, the piece becomes the soundtrack to 10/10 - and to a dish that travelled far beyond where it began.

“….. chicken rice has come remarkably far. And 10/10 flavor deserves its own date to match. That’s why on October 10th, The Hood Paris, Yong the Urbanist and BLK65 will launch International Chicken Rice Day: a day to eat chicken rice, celebrate its many interpretations, and tell the stories of the people who carried it around the world”
